Daniel Craig a.k.a 007 could be forgiven for previously making haughty remarks about his interest in the James Bond franchise. Recently the star of Spectre revealed that he had suffered a lot during the making of the film and has in fact endured quite a few injuries, The Daily Mail reports.
Craig had previously spoken out at an interview saying that he didn't care what the next James Bond movie might be, and if he did make another one, it would be "just for the money." Now that it can be told that he suffered tremendously during his 007 fight scenes, Craig's sentiments would be understandable.
In the report, Craig, 47, talked about how he had to undergo knee surgery because of an injury incurred from fighting the Spectre villain Mr Hinx. The accident was so serious that Craig was required to have an operation twice.
And despite the fact that the doctors ordered at least six months of recuperation, Craig bravely defied doctors' orders by pushing on with production after barely two weeks of rest. Had the six-month rest been sustained, the movie would have pushed its release date to 2016.
The biggest irony seems to be that Craig had once declared in an interview in 2009 that he would continue doing James Bond 'until my knees go.' Clearly this is one statement that the actor wishes he had not been so rash in uttering.
However, this is not the first time that Craig has broken a body part during his role as the suave British spy. The UK Mirror says that Craig had two teeth knocked out during Casino Royale. Though it wasn't enough to put off the star from following up on his first, ever stunt.
A series of other accidents erupted during the filming of Quantum of Solace in 2008: first there was a blow to the face that necessitated a visit from his plastic surgeon. The second was a tear on the shoulder from doing death-defying stunts.
The third was a cringe-worthy accident that had the top of his finger sliced off. Finally, lucky to have bruised and not broken his rib cage, Craig thanked his lucky stars that he was still alive by the time he left the filming in Panama.
After the latest installment in the James Bond franchise, Craig is slated to appear in a stage production of Shakespeare's Othello in 2016.
