The materials typically used for late night talk shows very rarely veer towards religion and faith. In what could only be described as a rare moment on TV, "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert managed to candidly discuss both topics with none other than the one and only Oprah Winfrey.

In an effort to promote her new show, titled "Belief," Oprah visited "The Late Show" to discuss the project which airs in her network, called OWN. Oprah disclosed that "Belief" aims to open up the various worlds religions and faiths across the globe. With this project, the public will become more knowledgeable and hopefully, appreciative of the beauty and history of the distinct faiths governing the world as we know it.

Taking a cue from the titled of the show, "Belief," Colbert questioned the legendary talk show host and now proud network owner on whether or not she believes there is a difference between faith and belief.

"Yeah, there is," confirmed Oprah in the interview. She went on to share, "Because there are a lot of people who don't think they're faithful people but have beliefs. You cannot be in the world without believing in something, even if you don't call it a deity. So there are people who believe in working hard and striving for their best, but don't necessarily have a religious belief."

Meanwhile, Oprah believes that faith is a completely different aspect altogether. She noted that faith gives someone the reassurance that things will fall into place regardless of the situation, adding that she has always been "part of that faithful."

While discussing these, Oprah let slip that was once dubbed as the "preacher girl" due to her habit of quoting Bible verses at length. Unsurprisingly, Colbert took this opportunity to quiz Oprah on her favorite verse from the Bible.

Before responding to the question, Oprah urged Colbert to share his personal favorite first. "Mine's from Matthew," responded Colbert, referring to his favorite Bible verse. "The Late Show" host added, "I like it because Jesus says, 'So I say to you, do not worry, for who among you by worrying could change a hair on his head, or add a cubit to the span of his life?'" To be specific, Colbert was referring to Matthew 6:25.

As for Oprah, she disclosed that her favorite biblical passage is Psalm 37:4 which says, "Delight thyself in the Lord. He will give you the desires of your heart."

Oprah explained, "Now what that says to me is "Lord" has a wide range," She further shared, "What is "Lord"? Compassion, love, forgiveness, kindness. So you delight yourself in those virtues where the character of the Lord is revealed. Delight thyself in goodness, delight thyself in love, kindness, and compassion, and you will receive the desires of your heart. It says to me, if you focus on being a force for good, good things will come."

Oprah then said that this verse also reflects the Third Law of Motion, karma, and the Golden Rule. For his part, Colbert added that the Bible verse is also echoed in Oprah's bestselling book, "The Secret."
