Pushpay, a mobile and digital giving organization, announced a partnership today with Grammy®-winning contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin to crowdfund donations for the Museum of the Bible, a Washington, D.C., museum focused on exploring the history of the Bible. The campaign kicks off during Tomlin's nationwide Love Ran Red tour, which began Oct. 8 in Nashville, Tenn.
"Our fans are some of the most generous people I've ever met, and I know they will rally around our goal of getting one million people to spread generosity and support the Museum of the Bible with a donation during our Love Ran Red tour," Tomlin said. "We believe in the museum's mission to bring the power of the Word of God to new audiences, and this is a cool, new way to support their work."
The Museum of the Bible, a 430,000-square-foot space located just two blocks off the National Mall in Washington, D.C., will allow visitors to search time, space and cultures to engage with the history, narrative and impact of the Bible. The museum will feature three permanent sections, as well as space for traveling exibits. The museum is scheduled to open in 2017.
"We're excited to partner with Pushpay and Chris Tomlin to support the development of the Museum of the Bible," said Ben Greene, director of affiliate partnerships for the Museum of the Bible. "Chris' music continues to point to the grace of God, and we are honored that he would include us as a partner on his Love Ran Red tour. Funds raised on tour through the Pushpay app will support museum construction in preparation for our opening in 2017. It will also help us on our mission to get one million people from around the world to celebrate and engage the Bible."
The tour aims to rally one million fans to give generously to Museum of the Bible, and in turn, the museum will permanently display donors names on a wall in appreciation.
"Crowdfunding is growing in popularity around the world, matching people's passions and interests with worthy causes in search of support," said Chris Heaslip, CEO and co-founder of Pushpay. "As we looked for how to pair crowdfunding and mobile giving, we felt like this was a fantastic fit. We're honored to be the official donation partner for Chris' tour and that funds raised will support the Museum of the Bible."
Pushpay offers churches a mobile-friendly way to accept tithes and donations in 10 seconds or less. It currently partners with 1,400 member churches across the United States.
Love Ran Red tour attendees will be able to donate to the Museum of the Bible using the Pushpay mobile app. The tour began Oct. 8 in Nashville, Tenn., and will conclude at the Passion 2016 conference in January.
