HTC has a scheduled press event for October 20 where the device maker is expected to unveil its newest smartphone. The company's handset, widely rumored to be named HTC One A9, will reportedly be launched in the said event where the company will also sponsor a benefits concert called Tidal X.
The unannounced device has been featured in a lot of reports in the past weeks. Now, the phone is once again the subject of newly leaked photos shared by renowned leakster "@OnLeaks"on Twitter, who already shared alleged images of the model, along with other devices, in the past.
Photos shared by @OnLeaks do not give away any information about the model's specifications, but it gives HTC fans an early glimpse into what the Taiwan-based manufacturer has in store. The leaked photos have an AT&T logo embossed at the back; if they turn out to be legitimate, then they suggest that the upcoming HTC One A9 handset will be offered exclusively by the American carrier.
Avid followers of HTC models may already know that the One A9 may arrive in a metal-clad body and will be available in six different color variants. The new photos, however, show that the model have an uncanny similarity with Apple's iPhone 6.
According to earlier reports, the phone will come with a 5-inch display with HD (1080x1920) resolution, amounting to a sharp 441ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 chipset which comprises of an octa-core CPU partnered with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM. HTC will equip it with 16GB of internal storage. In a move that will be welcomed by Android users, the company is said finally include a microSD card slot to support memory expansion.
On the photography front, the One A9 will feature a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image optimization) along with a 4MP Ultrapixel camera sensor at the front. A 2,150mAh battery will keep it juiced up and will be sporting a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. Google's new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS will be running the device by default.
As mentioned, HTC will likely take the wraps off the One A9 in an October 20 event. It will coincide with the Tidal X: 10/20 concert which will be held in celebration of the 1 million users milestone garnered by the music app "Tidal." The app, which is owned by rapper Jay-Z, will hold the concert in Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
According to ET Online, the proceeds from the concert will go to a handful of charitable organizations affiliated with the New World Foundation. It will feature performances by A-list artists such as Beyoncé, Prince, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, T.I., and Jay-Z himself, among others.
