Robert Kirkman's season 6 opener of The Walking Dead brings viewers back to ravaged Alexandria. The entire episode moves back and forth as it goes through the linear story of the present day and occasionally steps back into the past with flashback sequences that serve as welcome relief from the fast-paced action.
Missed the sixth season premiere? No matter. Here is a blow-by-blow account from TVline:
The new The Walking Dead episode continues not long after the fifth season finale stopped, with the conflict between the group and the original Alexandria residents ever widening.
Things were so-so as Deanna told Gabriel that he was wrong about Rick. There are some serious info blocks as Glenn lied about his and Nicholas' adventure in the woods. In the meantime, Rick and Morgan tried to get reacquainted once again. However it won't take long before personal differences threaten to get in the way of Rick's plans.
The problem occurs with a disagreement on whether Pete, the killer and wife beater, should be dropped in the woods or buried in the walls. Deanna wants Pete left exposed while Morgan insists the body should be buried. However before resolution could be had, a quarry full of walkers appears. Ron, who followed them to see if his father was buried, had to be saved. Because of the delay and distraction, the walkers managed to break through the semis that had initially blocked them.
Rick wanted to lead the quarry walkers fast away from Alexandria. When the locals started opposing one another, the fights aggravated, and included debates on whether any more survivors should be brought back.
Meanwhile Tara got the shock of her life when she found Nicholas got Noah killed and also tried to murder Glenn. Tara decided she was okay with Glenn as a leader and Maggie's as well.
Things weren't moving so well for Rick though as Carter tried to get other Alexandrians to kill Rick and reclaim the community. Carter aimed a gun at Eugene's head when he was interrupted and disarmed by Rick. "Do you have any idea who you're talking to?" Rick tells Carter.
Morgan got offended but Rick offered to let Morgan hold Judith and to move in with his family.
Rick also tried to appease Jessie by saying that was keeping distance to let her deal with her sons privately. Jessie however wanted him to never to scold Ron again. Jessie arranged for Rosita to help her use a firearm.
Eventually Rick successfully got everyone to do a dry run of his plan. Everything was going well until Carter got bitten in the face by a walker. To save the whole community, and to stop Carter from attracting more walkers, Rick broke Carter's neck front of Morgan and Michonne.
Things seemed back in control until a horn started blaring, attracting the walkers to the origins of the sound - which was coming from Alexandria.
