With Android 6.0 Marshmallow beginning a limited public rollout, the update may soon reach HTC devices. The only question is when. Notable HTC handsets on the market include the One M7, One M8, One M9, One X, Desire 510 and Desire 816. Though HTC has not announced release date, it did confirm that it is working on updating to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
HTC Promises Mass Android 6.0 Rollout at the End of 2015
President of HTC America, Jason Mckenzie, recently tweeted a promise to start releasing an Android 6.0 update for the One M8 and M9 at the end of 2015.
The same vow extends to the HTC Desire 816 as well. Even so, Mckenzie stopped short of saying when Android 6.0 will be available on the Desire 816.
Older HTC Devices Yet to Receive Confirmation
Unfortunately, it is starting to look like HTC is not going to support older platforms such as the One M7 and One S handsets.
Though the HTC Desire 510 was released last year, the Taiwanese company has yet to confirm whether this smartphone is getting an update anytime in the future. For now, users of these devices will need to wait for more updates from HTC.
Google Play Edition HTC One M8 May Receive Marshmallow Early
Recently, GottaBeMobile predicted that the Google Play Edition One M8 and HTC One M9 Developer Edition will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow early.
The site believes that the One M8 Google Play Edition will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow by the end of October. On the other hand, the One M9 Developer edition may not be ready until November of early December.
While it is fun to speculate, theories should always be taken with a light amount of skepticism. There is no word, even in the rumor mill, regarding whether the Google Play Edition One M7 will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
