The much-anticipated release of Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow saw handheld devices hurrying to update to the operating system (OS). However, there are still smartphones and handhelds that are still waiting for an upgrade to the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Korean phone maker LG announced that its LG G3 will be receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. A separate report by Droid Life has also confirmed that Verizon's LG G3 has started getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
The latest OS contains 353 MB in size. The Android build is LMY47V and the software version is VS98535B. Experts have suggested that you fully charge the battery of your smartphone before downloading the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and start the installation process.
And for some good news to fans of LG, the web site reported that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update seems to be live for most of the users. Users of LG smartphones G3 can check for the latest 5.1.1 Android Lollipop update manually simply by browsing to the settings menu>About phone>Software updates>Check for updates. A prompt will appear to inform the users if the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is available for download in their handset.
Meanwhile, Neurogadget added that LG G3 and LG G4 soon receive the Android Marshmallow update. The South Korean tech giant is reported to be scheduling to release the Android Marshmallow update to the following models - LG G3 F400L, F400K and F400S, and the LG G4 F500S, F500K and F500L.
Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile said in its official web site that LG G3, LG G4, LG G Stylo, as well as the HTC One M8, HTC One M9, including a variety of Google devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 will be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
G Stylo smartphones are all set for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as T-Mobile revealed on its support page via a track list that the device is coming near to the update. Previous reports suggested that the update might come in October or later in December although these months remain unofficially announced.
G Stylo has just been updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, G4 and G3 to Android 5.1 and G2 to Android 5.0.2 version.
Some reports also suggest that LG G Flex 2 as well as LG G2 could possibly get the Android Marshmallow update soon. Fingerprint scanner support, USB Type-C support, granular app permissions, doze battery-saving feature and Google Now on Tap are some of the features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
