The Duke of Cambridge Prince William wants his children, two-year-old Prince George and five-month-old daughter Princess Charlotte to grow up in a world where the elephants and the rhinoceros still roam the wilds that is why he is pushing doing everything to pursue his advocacy in saving the wildlife.
In an article he wrote for the Financial Times, the 33-year-old royal has also called on U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping of China to curb global trafficking of illegal wildlife.
"I cannot imagine what it would feel like if the last elephant or rhinoceros in the wild died," Prince William was quoted by Emirates as saying. "And I then had to explain to my children how we let it happen. It would be impossible to reassure them with a straight face that we could still reverse climate change or end intractable conflicts."
The Duke of Cambridge said he wants his children to appreciate the wildlife and the efforts exerted by various people across the globe, including their father, to stop the illegal wildlife trade.
Prince William, who is involved in various conservation projects around the globe, reported that an estimated 1,000 park rangers have been killed by poachers over the past 10 years.
He said, "My riposte is that conservation is about people, not just animals. About 80 percent of revenue received in Africa from tourists comes from watching wild animals, which are the ones most often threatened by poaching."
"This is a battle we can win. And given the importance of this issue to our global collective confidence, we really cannot afford to fail," Prince William continued.
Meanwhile, Carole Middleton, the mother of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, was spotted shopping clothes in several kid-friendly stores, including Trotters Childrenswear, to buy some cute dresses for Princess Charlotte, E! News reported.
Carole traveled to Kings Road in London over the weekend and reported to have bought some sweaters and dresses, judging from the displays near the front of the store where she went shopping.
She was seen leaving Trotters Childrenswear with several large shopping bags. The 60-year-old Carole was also seen entering the Russell & Bromley and later on left the shop with a bag, indicating that she also bought something for herself, the report said.
Carole is said trying to have a strong presence in the upbringing of her royal grandchildren. She was reported to have been involved with the planning of Princess Charlotte's christening and helped daughter Kate when she was still pregnant with Prince George.
