A new list claiming to enumerate a multitude of handsets scheduled to be upgraded to the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS has just been leaked online. The leak reveals that several handsets from major device makers such as Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC, Asus, along with other Asian manufacturers are set to receive the latest Android version from Google.
The list, which comes from a source in China, has hit the web on Monday and indicated that the Marshmallow software update will be distributed to devices in two batches. Understandably, the batch to get the Android 6.0 upgrade first will be the most recent high-end flagship models from big manufacturers such as the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 from Samsung, along with the LG G4 and One M9 from LG and HTC, respectively. First batch:
- Samsung: Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8
- HTC: One M9, One M9+, One M8, One E9, One E9 Plus, One E8
- Sony: Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia Z3+ (or Xperia Z4), Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition.
- LG: LG G3, LG G4 LG Flex 2
- Asus: Zenfone 2 series, Zenfone 2 Laser, Zenfone 2 Deluxe, Zenfone Selfie

If the information provided by the list turns out to be accurate, it means that older but still popular models like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will not updated to Marshmallow. Recent Samsung handsets notably excluded are the Galaxy Note 4 Duos and Galaxy S6 Duos. Interestingly, the three models from Sony's new Xperia Z5 lineup is also absent from the list, although the Japanese device maker already mentioned that its Z5 trio will be in line for the Android 6.0 update.
While the data seems plausible, no actual dates are given by the source but will likely be provided as more details becomes available. Nevertheless, it is best to treat this leak with a grain of salt as companies has yet to issue official Android M update schedules for their own devices.
