Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison has run a whole gamut of emotions while playing a CIA agent who's doing her part to protect the world. She has been put into and pulled out of various relationships and scenarios that challenge her emotional fortitude. On its fifth season, Carrie will again be placed in an entirely different kind of whirlpool as an unexpected meeting with her former mentor will pave the way for her to return to life inside the CIA, TV Guide reports.

This is the signal for Carrie to get into CIA-agent-on-a-mission mode. Spoilers: This season will reveal sides to Carrie that we've never seen before in situations that she's never been before. One of these is that Carrie actually meets a guy who is husband material for once, executive producer Alex Gansa reveals.

"This is a guy who is a stable, serious, good-minded person. This is a suitable life partner...and she finds comfort and security in that fact," said Gansa.

However, viewers should be warned that this is a totally new guy and not Nick Brody or Peter Quinn.

Season 5 also reveals that Carrie is actually a spiritual person. We'll catch her praying at mass and taking communion. However, Gansa claims that this revelatory scene goes much deeper than mere religiosity. It represents a desire for redemption and to be completely absolved of the blood on her hands. Gansa reveals in the TV Guide report that this is something that Carrie has always believed in, despite her being a non-practicing Catholic for a good part of her life.

Another thing to watch out for is Quinn coming back from his black ops campaign in Syria and right back into the arms of the CIA. His job? Embracing a dark side that sees him killing more people, in reaction to Carrie's rejection of him.

Meanwhile the IBTimes reveals that viewers will definitely get hooked in the way the new season unravels Carrie's stable and normal life in Berlin and within the safety of her totally normal boyfriend played by Alexander Fehling and her daughter Franny (played by Luna and Lotta Pfitze). Things will go awry when a hacktivist manages to obtain 13,000 classified files when he gets access into the CIA's computers. When things get worse, Carrie has to return to a life she once escaped.

This is one season, Gansa promises, that will have Carrie frequently looking behind her shoulder.
