IGN reports that Ronda Rousey's campaign to get herself cast as Captain Marvel is working pretty well and has rightly deserved the attention of Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Rousey is not just an actress who has appeared and will appear in The Expendables 3, the Fast & Furious 7, Entourage and an upcoming reboot of Road House. She is also an undefeated mixed martial artist and has won twelve of her professional fights.
And a lot of people would agree Rousey would make a good candidate for Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel. This woman is one tough cookie.
CinemaBlend reports that Rousey, who earned a bronze medal in Judo at the 2008 Summer Olympics, is currently the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, and recently won the ESPY 2015 Best Fighter award. She will soon to be the star of her own biopic and from this vantage point, seems to perfectly fit the profile of a character who was a the United States Air Force officer before turning superheroine.
If Rousey does get this role as Captain Marvel, she will definitely do her own fight scenes in the film. Apparently, Rousey is a natural born fighter and in her mind, no one else can better play the part of Captain Marvel. Ever since she first posted her interest on Reddit AMA, talk has spread on her fan art depicting herself as the Marvel character on her Instagram account.
All the energy and effort has moved Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to take note of Rousey and remark that "he loves" this passionate display.
The problem is, while some agree that Rousey has the right physique for the role, it is uncertain if she will live up to the acting prowess the role deserves. Apparently, we won't know for a good while yet.
TechTimes also reports that Feige did confirm to MTV that Captain Marvel will be out in late 2018 and that casting will only start in 2016.
