If you're on the lookout for the new wave of smart phones from HTC, then look no further. The manufacturer has recently unveiled a global version of the J Butterfly and an updated One M9+ model called the One M9+ Aurora Edition.
First, the upgraded J Butterfly is now called the Butterfly 3. HTC launched the J Butterfly smartphone in May 2015 to a Japanese market, and now HTC has prepared a version for the international market.
Users familiar with this handset will find the same hardware: the display is 5.2 inches display with a QHD (2560×1400) resolution. There is a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. Meanwhile the battery is 2,700mAh. It also has dual front facing BoomSound speakers, Quick Charge 2.0 support, IPX5 and X7 certifications for water and dust resistance, and microSD expansion.
Butterfly 3's dual rear camera has a 20 megapixel sensor that captures depth. It has optical image stabilization and a dual LED flash. For selfie addicts, the 13 megapixel camera's high resolution does not disappoint.
The Taiwanese market is in for a treat when the HTC Butterfly 3 arrives on October 20th. It retails for around $600. We have yet to see when it will hit global stores.
Meanwhile, if you take a closer look at the One M9+ Aurora Edition, you'll find major improvements in the camera hardware. The new model has a few interesting upgrades. The 21-megapixel rear camera now has an f/2.2 aperture. Keen photographers also get an optical image stabilization feature, which is a first for HTC phones, and laser autofocus. Previously, the One M9+ only had a 20-megapixel Duo Camera.
The other features of the One M9+ Aurora is the 5.2-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Its processor is a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T). There is 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, though expandable. The rear camera is 21MP with laser autofocus. The dual LED, dual tone flash is a big plus while the fingerprint sensor will surely add special insights to security features. The battery is 2,840mAh.
Many have said the One M9+ Aurora has what it takes to be HTC's flagship product. We shall see soon if this is the case.
