With the November 6 launch date fast approaching, things are coming to a head for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Last month, Treyarch Studios concluded the Multiplayer Beta with a group of PlayStation 4 players, whose feedback, Treyarch claims, will prove "invaluable" as the developers use this in the campaign's finishing touches prior to the event.
While waiting for D-Day, fans can pre-order the game on PS4 so they can take home a new NUK3TOWN Bonus Map at the launch. They can also catch up on the new Call of Duty universe by watching teaser videos lately released by game maker Activision.
Not only do the videos bring gamers up to speed but will reveal spoilers as well: one video marks out a hundred-year timeline of events, starting with Viktor Reznov in 1913 all the way to the death of Raul Menendez in 2025. Call of Duty Black Ops III, resumes in 2065, 40 years after the culminating events in Black Ops II.
However, few have caught the video that was briefly posted and immediately removed seconds after it made broadcast. Gamer G.I.Duke164, who managed to copy the teaser video before it was taken down reveals the plot of Black Ops III:
Apparently the new campaign happens on the USS Oklahoma, a decommissioned battleship where the main character is an ex-Navy Seal turned ship's cook (played by Steven Seagal). The skeleton crew of this ship is captured by a group of terrorists who plan to steal its weapons in order to re-sell it on the black market. Players can choose to play as one of the skeleton crew fighting to aid the main character or as one of the Navy Seal team members.
However there's something darker about this mission field as players will find a world where transhumanism rises to new heights. The new Black Ops soldier is an entirely different entity whose traces of humanity are regressing as more intense military technology is blended into this new breed of soldier. A voice over on the trailer warns: "We've got a new bit of hardware inside your head: it is called the direct neural interface. Your mind truly is your greatest weapon."
Treyarch promises the game will let you customize your character and team up with four fighters hurled into a larger environment with "overhauled AI, and full progression systems," in a campaign promised to be a "re-playable and evolving experience."
