Final rounds for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse World Tournament end this Saturday, September 26 according to information from the official contest webpage. Meanwhile, Xenoverse 2 rumors have reached a fever pitch following an allegedly leaked screenshot surfacing online. However, many observers have doubts.
What to Make of the Leaked Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Screenshot
Over a week ago, Christian Today shared a screenshot that allegedly shows the startup screen for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The picture was first posted on Spanish-speaking gaming forum AreaJugones.
However, game watchers quickly called the validity of the screenshot into question. PushSquare observed that a comma was placed between the words June and 2016. The publication went on to say that putting a comma between the month and year is a grammatical practice not normally used by major gaming publishers.
This development does not necessarily prove that a Xenoverse 2 is not possible. Even so, it is still too early to say whether Bandai is working on the fabled sequel.
Keep in mind that the original Xenoverse videogame was launched just this year. It is no secret that videogame development is notoriously demanding. So, it is looking even more unlikely that the Xenoverse sequel is launching immediately next year.
There is also the possibility that Bandai Namco is not ever planning to release a Xenoverse sequel. In June, the Japan-based firm ended support for Dragon Ball Xenoverse with the final downloadable update, dubbed "DLC 3."
Official Xenoverse World Tournament Ends
Bandai Namco confirmed that the fight between the remaining two players will be "recorded and displayed" on the official YouTube channel. The company did not say whether the final event will be live-streamed over on Twitch.
The event ends almost two months of competition between top players for the videogame based on the popular long-running animated series. Dragon Ball Xenoverse is currently available on all major console platforms including the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
