Longmire Season 4 was arguably the best season to date for the long running modern-Western series. This marks a promising future for the show after it was picked up by Netflix, which released all ten episodes of the 2015 season. Now, the question on many fans' minds is whether Longmire will be renewed for Season 5.
Happily, series regular Adam Bartley hinted at the possibility that the show is going strong. The actor is better remembered for his role as awkward Deputy Sheriff Fergusson, who also goes by "The Ferg." As the series progressed, the deputy starts to become more competent.
"I think the great thing about The Ferg is that you start out turning your badge in and saying you can't do it. The only way to go is up. It's a steady climb to being a trusted deputy for the sheriff," Bartley said in an interview with Paste Magazine.
"I would love to see The Ferg have some type of romantic interaction. That would be fun to explore and to play. It's fun to play a guy who's learning how to be a confident and learning how to do his job."
This is not to say that the actor confirmed Longmire is returning for a new season. Rather, the fact Bartley seems to be in an optimistic mood suggests the show may have a future after all.
That may come as a relief to those who remember the shock of seeing A&E axe the show after just three seasons. Though Netflix picked up Longmire for Season 4, the network has not confirmed whether it will order another season of the popular show.
Until then, all four seasons of Longmire can be enjoyed on the Netflix streaming site. It is a perfect opportunity for new viewers to binge-watch the series in one sitting. More news concerning the fate of Longmire will likely be revealed in the coming months.
