Pokemon Go is one of the most anticipated mobile game for Android and iPhone that is currently under development by collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Niantic, a former Google startup that has found success on its own for its earlier augmented-reality mobile game Ingress.

A new trailer uploaded on video-gaming site YouTube about Pokemon Go's latest trailer has racked up more than 16 million views, indicating the popularity of the yet to be released mobile game.

According to the game's description, "Pokemon GO's gameplay experience goes beyond what appears on screen, as players explore their neighborhoods, communities, and the world they live in to discover Pokémon alongside friends and other players."

PC Advisor explained that Pokemon Go is an "augmented-reality game for Android and iPhone." The game is a mobile app that can be downloaded to your Android smartphone or iPhone, but it can be played in the real world through augmented reality. The object of the game is to find, catch, fight and battle and trade Pokémon. Players are also encouraged to connect with other Pokémon GO players nearby while playing.

John Hanke, founder of Niantic, commented, "For the first time, Pokémon will roam free in the real world. Pokémon GO will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world. Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."

Both Nintendo and Niantic have not issued an official release date for Pokémon GO except to confirm that the mobile app will be ready sometime in 2016. However, PC Advisor noted there are rumors the game will be released on November 20 but added these rumors are not true. What is confirmed so far is that Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon will be released in the U.S. on November 20 for Nintendo 3DS after it was unveiled in Japan on September 17.

Pokémon GO can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iPhone. However, players have to spend a paid-for content available within the game.

This early, Nintendo and Niantic are building up the excitement leading up to the release date of Pokemon GO, said Express.

"The 'Pokemon' video game series has always valued open and social experiences, such as connecting with other players to enjoy trading and battling Pokemon," Express said, quoting the game's official description.

"With Pokémon GO, you'll discover Pokemon in a whole new world-your own! Pokemon GO will use real location information to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokemon," it added.
