With the official release date of the NBC original suspense drama series The Blacklist season 3 only a few days away, the producers of the show have given fans some valuable insights and episode spoilers.
The official synopsis of The Blacklist next season provides hints on how Liz (Megan Boone) and her partner Red (James Spader) are trying to survive being a fugitive of the law.
The Blacklist season 3 episode premier synopsis titled The Troll Farmer, reads, "The season premiere kicks off with the FBI hunting Liz for the murder of the Attorney General. Red and Liz are named to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and set out on the run to evade capture. Red calls upon a Blacklister called 'The Troll Farmer,' to help them flee the city, while the task force must question whom of their own can still be trusted."
Series executive producer John Eisendrath told TV Line that the FBI would be launching a manhunt against their former agents Red and Liz with the aim of capturing them and bring them to justice. The next season will also feature more serialized informants compared to the cases the previous season tackled.
Eisendrath said, "The hunt for Red and Liz... is a slightly more serialized story than we've told in the past. In the course of 22 episodes, we will of course give more answers about the past," Eisendrath promises. "But at the moment the season opens, we are focused entirely on the present."
He also revealed that fans of the show should not expect to get clear information about the relationship between Liz and Red at the start of the next season. But details will be presented in the coming episodes, he said. Eisendrath added that that the first few episodes of the series would focus on Liz and Red's ability to dodge authorities and escape arrest.
For his part, series creator Jon Bokenkamp commented that the upcoming season will feature an unexplainable dynamic between Liz and Red. According to Bokenkamp the characters' "resources are so incredible, and they complement each other in a really nice way."
Bokenkamp commented, "There's a really strange and powerful dynamic that [Red and Liz] have. Their resources are so incredible, and they complement each other in a really nice way."
Edi Gathegi is New Villain, Mr. Solomon
A separate report by Movie Plot has confirmed that Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) will be joining The Blacklist season 3 as the ruthless and mysterious villain only known as Mr. Solomon, a cleaner and hired hand for the Cabal. Mr. Solomon is described as someone who is monster in gentleman's clothing who is "unassuming and soft-spoken on the surface, with a hidden (and terrifying) capacity for violence."
Mr. Solomon's character will be introduced immediately in the premier episode of season 3 which airs on October 1, the report said.
The Blacklist season 3 is slated to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1, on NBC.
