The Salvation Army believes that everyone is deserving of dignity - and that everyone should have access to healthy, nourishing produce.
In Vancouver, The Salvation Army in partnership with local food truck, The Juice Truck, will be celebrating the dignity given every day at The Salvation Army by giving hope and juice to 400 Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light food line clients on September 16 between 10:30am and 11:00am.
The Salvation Army is excited to work with The Juice Truck in distributing two of their signature juice blends : The Strawberry Coconut (strawberry blended with coconut meat, coconut milk, banana, raw cacao nibs, raw vanilla and coconut nectar) and The Almost Chocolate (banana blended with medjool dates, almond butter, raw cacao, raw maca and almond milk) to those in need as The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light has seen a significant decrease in produce donations, so this opportunity will assist in filling that gap.
The objective and opportunity at hand will be to tell the story and impact of The Salvation Army in our community in a unique and fun manner while working with a supportive local community partner. Shares Juice Truck owner, Zach Berman "Our business is driven by community and the people of The Salvation Army are a big part of the Gastown Community."
Vancouver Harbour Light is one of the largest Salvation Army operations in British Columbia and has been serving Vancouver's Downtown East Side community for 60 years in providing resources, support systems along with serving 4200 meals per week through the food line. The primary goal is to reach out to hurting people and help them become productive, contributing citizens.
Each and every person has the fundamental right to dignity and The Salvation Army is excited to be working with local businesses such as, The Juice Truck, who believe in this very principle. Says, The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light Executive Director, Major Judy Regamey, "one of the great things about Vancouver are the food trucks, and we are so excited that The Juice Truck is coming to share a refreshing treat with our guests. We are grateful for Zach and Ryan's passion to give back by making this event possible and admire their willingness to support the local DTES community and our clients. This is hope in action."
