Bandai Namco, the Japanese game developer and the company behind the hugely successful video game and anime Dragon Ball franchise, is expected to make a major announcement about the Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 during the Tokyo Game Show to be held between September 17 and 20.
However, details about the announcement are very thin as the game publisher is tight-lipped about the development of the second installment of the Dragon Ball XenoVerse.
In mid-August, Bandai Namco launched the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse Online tournament. The tournament invites gamers across the United States, Japan, and Europe on all platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 4 (PS4) to determine the world champion.
Players can use both existing and original characters fight in the tournament, with eligibility for the finals to be determined by points earned in the preceding weeks. The points will be marked in-game with a special title, with a grand final held on September 12th, and matches posted on YouTube. As for more rules, regulations, and price info, check out the official Dragon Ball Xenoverse Tournament website.
So far, the Dragon Ball Xenoverse World Tournament is in beta, which will allow the participants to practice before the preliminaries kick off. The Beta Test ended on August 23rd, and the qualification rounds begun this week and will last until September 6th. The final rounds of the tournament will be held from September 12th until September 26th.
The final rounds were held Saturday, Sept. 12, in all regions and players from all over the world were allowed to watch the PlayStation 4 Japanese final rounds via live stream on Twitch, Geek Snack said.
Goku Destroys Street Fighter II
Meanwhile, Bandai Namco has released the Dragon Ball Super episode 9 where Goku transform into a Super Saiyan God. Intended as a joke and simply for entertainment, the Super Saiyan Goku is simply too much for the Street Fighter II cast as he easily destroyed them with his enormous powers and superior fighting skills, said Forex Report Daily.
In episode nine, Chun-Li was simply outmatched by Goku before finishing off Russian pro wrestler Zangief and Indian yogi master Dhalsim. Surely, The Dragon Ball Z character rules in this universe.
In the previous Dragon Ball Super episode 7, Beerus handily overwhelmed the Z-fighters in Bulma's birthday party such as Gotenks, Piccolo, Tien, Android 18 and Majin Buu.
Last month, Dragon Ball Xenoverse received its final DLC pack. This pack includes four new playable characters, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta, Golden Frieza, and Jaco the Galactic Patroller, 5 new Parallel Quests, 2 new Masters, 8 new Master Quests, 14 new special moves, 2 new Accessories and 7 Z-Souls which can be used to customize the player created character. Costumes inspired by the Resurrection "F" movie were also announced for the pack, but they have been released for free for everyone a few days before the DLC was released in all regions.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is now available in all regions on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The final DLC pack was available for Dragon Ball Xenoverse players as of last month. There have been no rumors of any other being available, but this could change.
Speaking of rumors, there was a leaked photo posted in several publications showing a screenshot of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. This has been pretty much dismissed as fake, as seen on the Dragon Ball Xenoverse Facebook Page. Considering that the game isn't even a year old, it is probably too early to talk about a sequel just now.
