The highly-anticipated Street Fighter 5 from game developer Capcom is slated for official release date in March 2016. But still, that doesn't stop fans, tipster and the company itself from providing us with the latest update, rumors and spoilers for the next edition of the ultimate street fighting video game.
While attending the GameStop Expo in Las Vegas, Street Fighter brand director Matt Dahlgren shared some of the details about the development of the video game. Dahlgren told Game Spot that new characters would be introduced in the fighting game series in addition Necalli who has been introduced recently.
According to Dahlgreen at least three brand new characters, which have never before seen, would be introduced into the next installment of Street Fighter.
Dahlgren said, "The roster discussion is probably the most intense one internally before the game comes out. He added that Capcom has "experts" and even surveyed fans to get a gauge which characters they wanted included in the upcoming game series.
"The end result is really going to be a roster that's unlike Street Fighter 4," he said. "It's got its own unique flavor to it. And if your character didn't make it in now, we are going to be revealing post-launch characters."
When the Street Fighter V is launched in March next year, the game will have 16 characters in all, with eight classic characters gamers have already accustomed to playing, including Ryu and Chun-Li; and another four are characters from previous games not seen in a while, such as R. Mika and Nash.
He revealed that the four brand new characters would include Necalli, the big-haired slashing-style fighter. The additional three will be announced later as the Street Fighter V nears its official launch, Dahlgren added.
He also revealed that Capcom is planning to introduce more characters into Street Fighter via expansion packs or DLCs.
In a separate report, IBTimes, that fans will have access to the Street Fighter V characters if they will pre-order the game or buying the content-heavy Collector's Edition for $100.
Depending on where gamers will pre-order their games, customers will get "Battle Costumes" for either Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison or Cammy. Placing a pre-order on the physical version of Street Fighter V, the Collector's Edition will have an extra a 10-inch Ryu statue, a 48-page hardcover art book, download codes for Street Fighter comics, a soundtrack sampler featuring some of Street Fighter's best songs, and a one-month subscription to Capcom's Twitch channel.
