GoPro Hero 5 still has yet to receive a confirmed release date. As such, specs and price information remain unknown. Even so, rumors continue to surface on the web.
Earlier in July, Gazette Review claimed that it had information suggesting that the Hero 5 would be delayed by 2016. Even so, other rumors purport that GoPro is using this delay to fine-tune improvements for the next GoPro Hero.
Rumored Specs and Price
According to Technnewstoday, the Hero 5 will be 50 percent smaller than its Hero 4 predecessor. This should make the new device lighter and more compact.
Despite the size reduction, the Hero may come with 8K-video recording capabilities at full HD. Also, the camera may capture 4K videos at 60 fps, instead of the slower 30 fps in older GoPro's.
Battery capacity is one crucial feature that is apparently being improved. The GoPro Hero 5 is believed to be sporting a 2,800 mAH battery that should provide two hours of use. Colors options will likely include black and silver, just like in all previous GoPro releases.
For now, the GoPro Hero 5's underwater capability remains unknown. Though prices have not been confirmed officially, the common assumption in gossip circles is that the Hero 5 will be pricier than the Hero 4. Currently, the GoPro Hero costs $500 for the black model and $400 for the silver.
Why GoPro Hero 4 is Still Awesome
The GoPro Hero 4 comes in both Black and Silver editions. Significantly more expensive, the Black Edition has the higher 30 fps for 4K resolution capture. However, Silver is still an excellent device, and is significant cheaper than its cousin. Most consumers will not mind Silver Edition ability to record 4K video at 15 fps.
At this time, both the Hero 4 Black & Silver are two of the finest action cams on the market. So, for those needing an action cam now, both editions of the Hero 4 is a great choice. Devices from GoPro's competitors are generally outclassed.
