With iOS 9 nearing public release, the jailbreak community is looking to the future. Apple recently that iOS 9 will have its release date on September 16, during its latest keynote presentation on Wednesday.
As, such, the Cupertino-based tech giant has already patched up a number of security exploits with iOS 8.4.1. This update may be the last of its kind as Apple users are gearing up for iOS 9.
Along with iOS 9, Apple has just revealed for the first time other products including the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, Apple Watch, revamped Apple TV and all new iPad Pro.
Is iOS 9 Possible?
The latest round of gossip comes straight from jailbreak commentator iCrackUriDevice, who believes that both iOS 9 and iPhone 6s can be cracked. He predicts that the untethered iOS 9 Jailbreak may be out sometime between September and October.
The explanation for this theory comes from the track record of Apple and the top jailbreak communities - many of which are based in China. How long jailbreak users need to wait depends on the complexity of iOS 9's much-touted rootless security feature.
Earlier, Apple described rootless as something that could potentially defeat jailbreak. In response, groups including Keen and TaiG have vowed to jailbreak iOS 9 after its release. Keen even announced that they invited the Pangu jailbreak community to collaborate on such an effort. It is not clear whether Pangu has accepted such overtures.
In late August, Pangu revealed an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak update at a security conference in China. However, the hacking group may have decided to hold off on iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak in order to not reveal security exploits that may find their way to iOS 9.
Confirmed iPhone 6s Features and Price
Meanwhile, Apple fans caught a glimpse of the highly-anticipated iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus. They are both considered the spiritual successors to the previous iPhone 6 and 6 Plus flagships.
Naturally, the devices do not sell for cheap. The iPhone 6S starts out at $199 for the 16GB version. Prices go up to $299 for 64GB and $399 for 128GB.
In contrast, the iPhone 6S Plus' 16GB model costs $299. The 64 GB version will set buyers back at $399. Consumers will need to shell out $499 for the 128GB model.
Both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus include a 12-megapixel rear iSight camera, along with a 5-megapixel front camera. The devices are also capable of recording 4K videos. Apparently, the handsets' new A9 chipset is about 90 percent faster when rendering graphics.
Apple also announced that force-touch technology has been included via the 3D Touch feature. To view content, users only need to touch lightly. A more forceful touch will access the content.
The release date for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has been set for September 25.
