Development for the Final Fantasy VII remake may still be in stages of experimentation, according to the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase. The HD reboot of the popular title was first announced earlier at Sony's E3 2015 press conference in June. The game's release date has yet to be announced.

During the gathering, a trailer was revealed, driving a number of fans to excitement. Unfortunately, the release date remains unknown for now. Upon launch, the Final Fantasy VII remake will be available on Playstation 4. Final Fantasy VII was first released in 1997, and has become a beloved classic since then.

Experimentation with Combat Begins

Speaking at an interview with Famitsu, Kitase revealed that the game is still far from complete. Happily, Gematsu translated and republished his comments.

"We're starting see the visual direction," Kitase had said about the game's status. "On the other hand, since there's a possibility that the command battle system of the old days might not work today, we're thinking hard about what kind of direction we can take it."

Kitase also admitted that redundancy would be a challenge that his team will have to address.

"Normally, when you do a remake, it becomes somewhere along the lines of a familiar action RPG, so we're looking at how we can put out something like Final Fantasy VII while still surprising players," he explained. "Please don't ask about how far into development we are and such."
