Things are looking up for Jennifer Lawrence in the latest poster of her upcoming movie, Joy, scheduled for release on Christmas Day (December 25). Joy, directed by David O. Russell's, chronicles the life of Joy Mangano, a Long Island woman who invited the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers, from age 10 to 40.
Joy also stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. This will also be the third time Lawrence and Cooper will join director Russell in a movie.
In the poster, the Hunger Games and award-winning actress was wearing an aviator sunglasses and looking up at the sky as snow falls around her.
Russell commented on the movie, "What's it like to become a boss and the godmother of a family and dynasty, both emotionally and commercially? You go inside that person's soul, and it's alternately hilarious, horrifying, and sort of joyous."
According to HitFix, Joy is Russell's attempt at The Academy having been nominated in the past but never won the trophy. Lawrence won an Oscar for her role in the Playbook directed by Russell and nominated for the award for the third time in the American Hustle shown in 2013, also directed by Russell.
In Joy, Lawrence is playing the lead role with Cooper as supporting cast.
Joy, is an upcoming movie for 20th Century Fox that features guns, The Rolling Stones, drama and a person's strong determination to succeed. Joy Mangano dreamt big at a time when women are not supposed to remain as house makers tending to the needs of the family. But Joy's grit and determination allowed her to overcome all the challenges and society's stereotype at that time.
Joy's struggle took her doing menial jobs until she changed her career and presented the world with her invention that eventually built her a business empire.
The movie will also star Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, Viginia Madsen and Edgar Ramirez. 'Joy' is directed by David O Russell based on a story he co-wrote with Annie Mumolo.
