With Fast and Furious 8 release date set for April 14, 2017, cast rumors continue to circulate on the web. Stars rumored to be appearing in the next Fast and Furious installment include Paul Walker's brother Cody, Kurt Russell, Eva Mendes and Cara Delevigne. Actor Vin Diesel will reprise his role as franchise protagonist Dominic "Dom" Toretto.
Will Cara Delevigne Join the Cast?
English fashion model and singer Cara Delevigne may be joining the cast lineup in the future, if rumors are to be believed.
Last month, Enstarz added Delevigne to their list of actors who they want to see in Furious 8. Just to be clear, this is in no way an actual confirmation. In fact, neither Universal nor Delevigne have offered hints on whether the recent cast speculation is true. That means all rumors regarding Delevigne should not be taken seriously at the moment.
More recently, Delevigne starred as the Enchantress in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. The feature film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 15, 2016.
Kurt Russell (a.k.a. Mr. Nobody) May Return
Iconic action star, Kurt Russell, is said to be returning in "Fast and Furious 8." In a cameo appearance in "Furious Seven," Russell starred as the shadowy government agent named Mr. Nobody.
In late March, Vin Diesel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Russell will be appearing in a future New York storyline. Kurt was specifically hired in Furious 7 to appear in that scene, Vin Diesel revealed.
Cody Walker May (Or May Not) Have Expanded Role in Furious 8
The brother of actor Paul Walker is rumored to getting his own part in Furious 8. Paul was tragically killed in car crash in 2013, before Furious 7 filming was completed. After a long period of inactivity, filming resumed with brothers Cody and Caleb agreeing to fill in as Paul in some scenes. The movie was completed in record time, and has went on to make $1.32 billion in global earnings .
Rather than killing off Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor, showrunners have decided to place him in happy retirement.
Meanwhile, Cody Walker expressed interest to participate in the eight Furious installment as a new character if given the chance. Still, it is not entirely impossible for producers to gloss over anything connected to Brian O'Connor in future installments.
In short, it is difficult to determine whether Cody will be returning.
Eva Mendes May Join the Cast
In July, WeGotThisCovered interviewed an alleged source close to the Furious 8 production. Apparently, Universal is engaged in talks with Eva Mendes. The insider also claimed that Mendes's character Special Agent Monica Fuentes will team up with the protagonists during a storyline in New York City.
Mendes previously starred in a large role for "2 Fast and 2 Furious" before making a cameo appearance in "Fast Five."
