Rumors surrounding the Destiny 2 release date may turn out to be a hoax. In the meantime, eagle-eyed watchers have spotted a recent request by Destiny developer Bungie for a skilled PC compatibility tester. Is Destiny coming soon to the PC? Also, the Taken King Expansion Pack's prologue video has just been released.
Bungie Looking for a PC Compatibility Tester
This week, Bungie posted a request on its developers' career page asking for individuals to test "PC hardware-specific features" to ensure compatibility between various PC-based systems.
Even though Bungie did not specify the name of the game being evaluated, a number of observers believe that Destiny is the title being ported to the PC. Earlier, Destiny's publisher Activision hinted at a possible PC version for the future.
"You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit," Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg said to Polygon back in June.
The only known cross-platform game Bungie is developing is Destiny. Still, it is possible that the videogame developer may be working on an anonymous top-secret title. For now, Destiny PC exists solely in the realm of wishful thinking.
Destiny 2 Leak May Be a Hoax
In late July, a poster on Reddit claimed that Destiny 2 will be titled "Destiny: The Shattered Sun." The same individual also said that the game will be released on September 2016.
"You will still be using your current characters. It will focus heavily on Osiris and his endeavors as he is the main quest giver in the game. A new form of enemy is said to be in development, possibly Ahamkara," the rumor states.
This is not the first time alleged Destiny leaks have been circulated on the internet. A Forbes contributor questioned the authenticity of the recent Destiny 2 rumors, pointing out that much of the leaks were suspiciously similar to information already revealed in the Taken King DLC promotions.
Destiny 2 may eventually be announced by official sources. So for now, gamers will need to take the recent Reddit rumor with a very healthy grain of salt.
