Cupertino, California-based tech giant Apple is set to revolutionize television as we know it with the much-hyped release of its ultra HD Apple TV this September that even allows you to content from your iOS devices or Mac on your TV using AirPlay. Best of all, Apple TV is just $69.
The release of the Apple TV is expected to be announced next month together with the unveiling of Apple's new iPhone at its annual traditional event, reports indicated.
The new Apple TV gives users the power to wirelessly play video, show off photos, and enjoy music and more from your iOS devices or Mac on your HDTV and home entertainment system. And with peer-to-peer AirPlay, guests can wirelessly and quickly connect to your Apple TV without being on the same network or signing in with a password.
A report by Buzzfeed said, "Expect a refreshed and slimmer chassis and new innards; Apple's A8 system on chip; a new remote that sources say has been 'drastically improved; by a touch-pad input; an increase in on-board storage; and an improved operating system that will support Siri voice control. Crucially, the new Apple TV will debut alongside a long-awaited App Store and the software development kit developers need to populate it."
With the Siri Voice Command, Apple TV users can navigate around the TV's user interface with their voice. You can actually command the Apple TV to switch channels or launch the Netflix app without touching the remote control at the comfort of your seat.
And to make your TV experience more exciting, Apple has filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office for a patent that allows users new interface for media playback of its planned TV streaming services from Netflix, Amazon, VUDU, Hulu, YouTube, Pandora, Spotify, Beats Music/Apple Music and Apple TV, reported Patently Apple.
The patent application describes Apple's desire to provide a new circular progress bar in the graphical user interface for manipulating the playback of media. Early reports said Apple wants the system to be used in various media services found on the new Apple TV.
Apple has also applied for a patent for its Touch ID Apple TV remote. This means, Apple TV's remote control can identify users fingerprint. To date, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has approved Apple's inbuilt touch ID sensor for the Apple TV remote.
With the finger print identification in the inbuilt Touch ID sensor, users can gain access to their account and even personalized their profiles. Apple's finger print scanning was first introduced on the iPhone 5s in 2013. The Apple TV related patent was filed in January 2014.
"Along with providing personalized program information, if the Apple TV becomes the hub for HomeKit devices in the home, it could be used to define the optimum setting of gadgets in the home, as preset by the user. The best bit: you'd never have to enter your Netflix password again. It will also help parents ensure that kids don't gain access to content they aren't authorized to view," MacWorld said.
But the most exciting feature of the new Apple TV is the report that it will be powered by the same A8 chipset that is found in the iPhone 6/6 Plus.
Aside from giving faster performance for general use and gaming experience using the App Store, the A8 processor can provide the Apple TV higher output ultra-high definition 4K video content to compatible TVs.
