With Walking Dead Season 6 release date confirmed for this fall, potential spoilers continue to surface. Naturally, many of these hints are based on hearsay or fan expectation. Even though speculation is fun, all information regarding the sixth season should be taken with a grain of salt.
Season 6 of The Walking Dead will air on October 11 at 9/8c on AMC network.
Who Will Michonne Romance?
Fans have long been clamoring to see the start of a Rick and Michonne romance. Still, things are not as straightforward as they seem. Even the actress who plays Michonne is not so sure her character will have time for romance.
"The Richonne thing-we get it a lot," Danai Gurira said to EW on Wednesday. "They're friends, you know. And people want that. I love that folks want Michonne to get some. I always say that. I say to my boss, 'Michonne's a nun. She don't give none, she don't get none.'"
In the comics that inspired the TV show, Michonne actually falls for Morgan instead. So, it is tough to say what directions Walking Dead showrunners will take. Recently, Gurira pointed out that Morgan and Michonne's relationship is anything but intimate.
"When we think about the last time these two characters met... Michonne was weirded out. Michonne was like, 'Who is this guy? He's crazier than me and this is weird,'" Danai told Access Hollywood. "So she's kind of like... 'He's back in our lives and he does this weird thing to Rick.' So she's kind of like on this weird path with him... because she doesn't know who he is. What she remembers is not something safe or something comfortable."
Until then, Michonne will remain single until showrunners decide whether to pick a love interest for the sword-wielding toughie.
Dawn of the Wolves
As with every new season, new villains are to be expected. Based on events from the Season Five finale, it is safe to assume that the next antagonists are the Wolves. Lead by Derek, the murderous group decides to pay the residents at the Alexandria safe-house a visit.
In the comics, they are known as the Scavengers. Like the Big Bad Wolf from the classic children's tale, the comic Derek demands to be let into the residency. Rick, who becomes de facto leader leader, does not comply. While standing at the gate, Rick has a sniper trained on him. However, he is saved by Andrea who kills both the sniper and Derek. Unfortunately, the shots attract zombies that swarm toward the gates of the Alexandria.
TV viewers will recall that Andrea died very early into the TWD series. Web sources including DenofGeek speculate that Sasha will replace Andrea.
