With Grey's Anatomy Season 12 coming this fall, cast and spoilers have been circulating on the web. Unfortunately, one of the latest gossip have been shot down. Even so, others have taken a life of their own. The show's air date is scheduled for September 24 at 8/7c on ABC.
Marriage Predictions
So far, the general consensus amongst critics and fans is that Alex and Jo will marry in Season 12. Previously, rumors suggested the return of Alex's ex-wife Dr. Izzie Stevens, who is played by Katherine Heigl. However, the actress denied such claims.
"There is not, I'm sorry," Heigl said to ET when asked about her alleged return to Grey's Anatomy.
Heigl left the show in 2010 amidst reports that she was at odds with showrunner Shonda Rhimes. The actress had been with Grey's Anatomy for six seasons. She has since then worked on projects including her film "Jackie and Ryan", which premiered in early July.
Meanwhile, the Inquistr predicts more screen time for recently wedded Richard Webber and Catherine Avery. While Catherine is starting to settle down, her son Jackson Avery is facing marital woes with his wife April Kepner. It is unclear whether Jackson and April will reconcile in the upcoming season. Still, WetPaint predicts the couple will reunite.
What will Happen Post-McDreamy
Actor Martin Henderson has been cast in a yet-to-be announced role. Still, it is generally believed that the New Zealander will star as a new doctor at Seattle Grace. His character is likely to replace iconic character Derek "Dr. McDreamy" Shepherd, who unexpectedly died in a car crash. Henderson's film credits include Australia's Secrets and Lies as well as SundanceTV's The Red Road.
Fans are still reeling by the sudden demise of their favorite surgeon, played by actor Patrick Dempsey. Despite allegations that Dempsey was fired, Shonda Rhimes has not publically discussed why Shepherd was suddenly killed off. Previously, Dempsey was cited for alleged off-screen antics that included on set diva-like behavior and a rumored relationship with an intern.
One question that remains is how Derek's love interest Meredith will cope with the loss. However, there are rumors that Henderson's character will eventually romance Meredith in the course of the upcoming new season. Meredith may also face an onset of Alzheimer's, which was hinted at in Season 11.
Also, Inquistr suggested that Dr. Miranda Bailey's husband, Ben Warren, will take over as chief surgeon. Naturally, this can only be confirmed when Grey's Anatomy returns for another run.
