Successors for the Motorola Moto X, Moto G, Moto 360 have yet to be confirmed. Even so, rumors regarding their release date and specs continue circulating on the web. Current tech gossip suggest that all three devices may be revealed in 2015.
In the sections below, we will examine what we know so far regarding the status of Motorola's highly-anticipated devices.
Motorola President Confirms Same Release Cycle for Moto X
The third generation Moto X will likely be released this fall, according to what was confirmed by Motorola's president Rick Osterloh.
In March, a twitter poster asked Osterloh if the next-gen Moto X will follow the same release cycle of the past two years.
"We try to stay on a roughly annual cycle for all of our products including Moto X," Osterloh tweeted back.
That means the Moto X 2015 might be ready sometime between August and October 2015. Though Motorola has not made formal announcements for their newest device, the existence of the Moto X 2015 is widely accepted throughout most tech circles.
Official sources have not revealed details about the Moto X 2015 specs. What has been revealed so far comes straight from the rumor mill.
GeekSnack reports that the Moto X 2015 supposedly has a 5.1 inch with QHD resolution. Under the hood, the device may contain a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3 GB RAM. The same publication claims that the Moto X 2015 may have up to 128 GB of internal storage.
Moto G 2015 May Showcase at IFA 2015
Motorola fans are also expecting the successor to the Moto G 2014. Just like the Moto X 2014, there is very little information regarding the Moto G 2015. Even so, this has not stopped mobile device fans from speculating on a possible next-gen Moto G.
PCAdvisor predicts that the new Moto G will debut at the upcoming IFA 2015 conference, where Motorola often features new devices. The UK-based publication also reported that the Moto G 2015 will be running on Google's latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware. Unlike the Moto X 2015, the new Moto G might have a smaller screen of 5-inches. Also, it might be running on the Snapdragon 410 processor.
Many sources on the web believe that the Moto X and Moto G 2015 models will be featured together. Still, these rumors are to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt until IFA kicks off on September 7-8 in Berlin, Germany.
Moto 360 2015 Status
Officially, the popular Moto 360 smartwatch has no successors. Even so, rumors regarding the so-called Moto 360 2015 never seem to die.
Days ago, Motorola sold the first generation Moto 360 at 20% off with free shipping. Customers had to enter the code "MOTOMAKERAFTAB" at the Moto 360 purchase page of the official Motorola website. The deal has expired since then. Still, the price slash convinced some observers that Motorola was emptying out its Moto 360 inventory to prepare for something new. Naturally, suspicions fell on the fabled Motorola Moto 360 2015 as being that replacement.
The first-gen Moto 360 was launched in the U.S. back in September 2014. Since then, it has generally received excellent reviews amongst critics and consumers alike.
