Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, remains on hospice care as her condition continues to deteriorate, a family source has confirmed.
Five months ago, the 22-year-old actress was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub by her boyfriend, Nick Gordon. She was rushed to North Fulton Hospital, where she was placed in a medically induced coma. She later moved to Emory University Hospital, and from there a rehab facility.
Despite having received what her aunt, Pat Houston, described as "great medical care" at the various medical facilities, Bobbi's condition failed to improve and subsequently, she was moved into hospice care last Wednesday.
According to reports, her father Bobby Brown flew her on a private plane to Chicago's Northwestern University for a complete check-up before she was admitted into the hospice care. Bobby reportedly made the difficult decision to take her off life support last week after experts concluded that nothing could be done to save the 22-year-old.
"She's skin and bones now. She has been losing weight, she's been losing hair. They were taking good care of her, but she has no muscle tone at all. There has been some worry that her organs are shutting down," a family source explained.
Over the weekend, Bobbi Kristina's relatives from the Houston and Brown families tearfully gathered near the young woman's bedside.
Visitors included Bobbi Kristina's aunt Pat Houston - who is married to Whitney's brother Gary and serves as her legal joint-guardian - and Bobby's sister Tina Brown. The women were seen embracing each other outside the care facility, crying, People Magazine reports.
Bobbi Kristina's aunt Leolah Brown was also seen wiping away tears, according to an onlooker.
Tina's son, Shayne, explained to E! News that the Brown and Houston families are attempting to put aside their differences in light of the tragic situation.
"Everybody is in a peaceful place. There's no bad blood," he told the news source. "Everyone's just coming together in honor of Krissi. We're all family."
It is unclear what exactly occurred in the events leading up to the young woman being found face-down in a bathtub. However, Police in Roswell reportedly launched a criminal investigation into Bobbi's case in recent months amid concerns of "foul play" among Brown's family members.
Additionally, Nick Gordon has not been allowed to visit Bobbi Kristina as the latter's family believes that he has not revealed all the details about what happened the night she was hospitalized.
Gordon may also become part of a murder inquiry if Bobbi Kristina dies as the Fulton County prosecutors are now looking at the case with "greater interest," the Daily Mail reported, citing Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr.
Bobbi's mother, Whitney Houston, died in 2012 and was also found unresponsive in a bathtub. A coroner ruled her death an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
Last month, Bobbi's grandmother, Cissy Houston told Entertainment Tonight that the family is trusting in the Lord during this difficult time.
"She's the same, she's not progressing at all," Cissy, 81, said. "She's not gone yet, but you know, whatever the Lord decides, I'm ready for her...I have nothing to do with that. That's His job. It's His territory, you know? And I understand it."
Despite the young woman's deteriorating condition, a family source said the Brown and Houston families will continue to pray for recovery.
"A miracle could still happen," the source said.
