Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Calvin Harris are the new toast of the town in Hollywood. According to the latest Forbes world's highest-paid celebrity couple in this year's Celebrity 100 list which went live Monday, June 29, Swift and Harris are the highest-paid celebrity couple.
Swift and Harris dethroned musical power couple Jay Z and Beyonce who ranked on top of the highest-earning celebrity couples list since 2013. The couple earned $146 million in 2014, according to Forbes estimates, higher than $35 million from the combined earnings of Queen Bey and Jay Z or $110.5 million during the same year.
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert came in third after the couple earned a combined $57 million last year. It should be noted that almost all of the highest earning celebrity couples came from the music industry.
The entry of Swift and Harris on the top of the celebrity couple earnings did not come as a surprise even though their relationship is still quite new. Taylor Swift has a solid fan base, including a wide clout in the industry. Recently, Swift forced Apple to pay royalties to musicians during the free trial period of its new streaming service. For his part, the Scottish DJ Harris placed in the top 20 of the 2015 Celebrity 100.
Adding to the income of the couple, Swift landed lucrative endorsement deals with Diet Coke, Keds and Sony. Harris is endorsing Giorgio Armani and Sol Republic headphones. And should Swift and Harris stay longer (than most of Swift's past relationship), then the couple is expected to stay at the top of the list for a long time.
Earlier, rumors spread that the Grammy award-winner Swift and Harris, are heading into splitsville. Reports by KDrama Star said the four-month-old relationship between Swift and Harris are on the rocks and hinted the couple is on the brink of breaking up.
It said that reports about the brewing trouble between the 25-year-old American singer-songwriter and actress Swift and her 31-year-old singer, songwriter, record producer, and DJ boyfriend emerged after Harris' ex-girlfriend British pop star Rita Ora was interviewed in Marie Claire magazine and provide details of her rocky relationship with the DJ.
Ora was quoted by Celeb Dirty Laundry as telling Marie Claire, "There was a reason why I split up with him. And there was a reason why I'm at this point in my life where I feel like I have so much musical freedom, and I don't have to explain myself to anybody. It was more of a thing where I was in awe."
Ora further dished out, "I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong. I thought he had my back and that he'd never steer me wrong. But then 'I Will Never Let You Down' came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don't know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what."
