Tom Clancy's The Division is about to undergo beta testing. As such, Ubisoft is now looking for willing participants from the general public. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC upon its release date.
Naturally, those interested in participating in the Beta will need to sign-up with Ubisoft first. Also, customers who pre-order The Division have guaranteed access to the Beta as well.
'The Division' Release Date
Last week, Ubisoft confirmed that The Division will hit stores on March 8, 2016. All three versions of the videogame will be available on that day.
Players can now pre-order the game at major U.S. retailers and online merchants. Those who pre-order will gain guaranteed access to Beta testing.
What Was Revealed at E3 2015
Ubisoft unveiled a multiplayer demo at this year's E3 conference in Los Angeles. The presentation started with the obvious, showing players obtaining supplies and taking on the enemy. Gamers can form cliques, and add new members from agents they pick up on the streets.
Toward the end of the demo, all the agents turn on each other when it turns out there is not enough resources to go around. The last surviving operative turns rogue, and runs off into the city alone. Based on what was shown so far, players can make choices - either to serve the public good or themselves.
At the same event, Ubisoft released a trailer that revealed more of the premise behind the game. A global pandemic caused by a weaponized virus devastates the world. Whole governments collapse, and the social order falls into anarchy.
The U.S. government activates a shadowy organization made up of operatives whose sole purpose is to reestablish order, no matter the costs.
What are the Three Editions
Players have their choice of three editions - Standard, Collector's, and Gold. Both the Collector's and Gold version come with additional memorabilia and in-game content.
The Collector's edition includes Season Pass, an agent's watch, poster, agent armband, and art book. Customers will also have access to the Urban Jungle content, which features flamethrower-wielding thugs and deadly enemy factions.
Gold edition comes with Season Pass, and exclusive National Guard gear set. In-game content includes custom weapons, gear, and clothing.
Betas Once Rumored, Now Confirmed
Earlier this year, rumors for a public beta surfaced on the web. This started with an article from Gameranx, which reported that the first Beta will be released in the last quarter of this year. Their information allegedly came from an inside source.
Ubisoft's recent public beta announcement confirmed what was once thought to be rumor. The first Beta on Xbox One is due this coming December. Ubisoft has yet to announce release dates for the remaining two Betas.
