The Walking Dead Season 6 is debuting this coming fall season on AMC Network. Naturally, it is too early for release date announcements. Even so, the latest rumors suggest that the debut may be revealed at this year's San Diego Comic Con. For now, fans will need to settle for news concerning the latest cast updates and plot spoilers.
AMC will also launch the prequel spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead, which will premiere in August 2015.
Heath Added to Character Lineup
A prominent figure from The Walking Dead comic book series is joining the season 6 lineup of new characters. Played by actor Corey Hawkins, Heath is a new Alexandria supply runner who befriends Glenn Rhee. The African American character is also Denise's love interest. This information was confirmed earlier this month by The Hollywood Reporter.
Corey Hawkins is better known for his starring role as Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton, which will hit theaters on August 14.
Where the Previous Season Left Off
In the Season Five finale, Morgan finally reunites with the main characters at the Alexandria Safe-Zone. However, his return comes at an inopportune time when he stumbles upon Sheriff Rick putting a bullet in Pete's head.
Earlier, Pete sliced open Reg's throat while in a fit of rage. Reg then bleeds out in front of the terrified Alexandria Safe-Zone residents. Deanna, their leader, gives Rick permission to execute Pete.
It remains uncertain how Morgan will deal with the current situation as well as dramatic transformations in Rick Grimes' personality.
Will Deanna Monroe Go Crazy?
Also unclear is how Deanna will cope with the loss or her husband Reg.
In the original comic book, the leader of Alexandria was Douglass Monroe whose wife is Regina. For the TV-adaptation, Douglass was swapped for female character Deanna whom is married to a man named Reg.
Like Reg Monroe, Regina has her throat slit by Pete. After Regina's death, Douglass begins to lose touch with reality. Eventually, the Alexandria leader relinquishes his power to Rick Grimes.
Deanna may slip into madness. However, TWD showrunners may decide to the opposite by having her become hardened instead. Until the Season Five finale, Deanne demonstrates a reluctance to punish the wife-abusing Pete. This hesitation is lost when Pete kills Reg.
Longtime Walking Dead fans will notice that there are major differences between the comics and the TV show. In short, any outcome is possible. It really depends on how long TWD producers intend to keep Deanne.
