WWE 2K16 release date in the U.S. is set for Oct. 27, according to the latest WWE announcement. Regarding the roster, WWE has confirmed six Superstars and Divas. The game will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
These announcements were made during E3 2015, which concludes this week in Los Angeles.
At this time, 2K Games has not revealed the ESRB-rating for the upcoming title. WWE 2K16 will launch globally on October 27, 2015.
Who's On the Roster?
The following wrestlers have been confirmed:
- Seth Rollins
- Daniel Bryan
- Dean Ambrose
- Bad News Barrett
- Paige
- Finn Bálor
Previously, artwork featuring the newly confirmed roster members had been on display for the entire three days of E3 2015. It is not clear whether the images will be a part of WWE 2K16. Based on the new press release, WWE 2K16 will have the largest playable roster to date - surpassing all previous WWE videogame titles.
Pre-Order Sales in Full Swing
Release date information for WWE 2K16 have been updated with major U.S. merchants including GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy. The selling price for WWE 2K16 runs to about $59.99.
Cost of shipping will vary depending on retailer. Naturally, GameStop and Best Buy customers can save money by choosing the in-store pickup option.
Stone Cold Possibly Coming to WWE 2K16
There are rumors that Stone Cold Steve Austin will be central in one of the main story modes. This information comes straight from What Culture, which quoted a Memphis Cerrito Live Radio Show interview with Jerry Lawler.
"They're having in this year's game, a big Stone Cold Steve Austin Attitude Era section and they have me and J.R. back together again in the studio doing voice-overs for that," Lawler had said.
2K Sports did not officially confirm the WWE Hall of Famer in its lineup. Still, this has sparked much excitement amongst longtime wrestling-fans. Even Austin himself has teased about big announcements on Twitter, according to Wrestle Zone. Stone Cold's storyline is apparently set during the Attitude Era in WWE history.
WWE 2K15 Support Ending
In the days leading up to WWE 2K16, 2K Sports has terminated all support for WWE 2K15. That means all patches have been cancelled.
"I have confirmed with our dev team that there will be no more updates/patches for WWE 2K15," WWE Game's community manager Marcus Stephenson announced on 2K's official forum.
Stephenson added that the development team was hard at work on upcoming projects, and that all feedback on the thread would affect future progress. The final WWE 2K15 patch was originally scheduled for a March 30 release date.
Earlier, WWE 2K15 became the first title in the series to launch on PC. It is unclear whether 2K Sports will also end support for the game's PC edition.
