Other sources such as Apple TechSpot speculate that the iPod Touch 6 will be unveiled at WWDC 2015 in June.
Even so, recent developments have been characterized by slumping iPod Touch sales, and rising consumer demand for iPhone devices. According to Venture Capital Post, the hypothetical iPod Touch 6 will need to have popular iPhone features in order to have any hope of survival. However, the publication was quick to point out that the iPod's initial cost is similar to an iPhone - potentially driving away new users to the older series.
Apple has not officially confirmed the end of the iPod series though, which may offer a bit of consolation for iPod diehards. The device continues to be adored by holdouts who want access to music/video files without needing smartphones, which are usually tied to expensive mobile service contracts.

Regarding specs, there is no official information available. Price rumors range from $250 to $300 on a variety of sites. It has also been speculated that the device will come in 32 GB and 64 GB versions. The iPhone Touch 6th Gen may come in space gray, orange, green, pink, red, or silver.
