PlayStation Plus members are already enjoying this month's selection of free games, but if you've been holding out to spring for that Plus membership, now might just be the time.
Beginning on March 3, Sony has posted a total of six games that will be completely free to Plus members until the end of the month. In addition, there are also several games enjoying a price reduction throughout the same time period.
And Sony is so excited for April's list of free games that the company has already revealed that Bethesda's award-winning stealth FPS, Dishonored, will be among the free games for next month.
But let's take a look at this month's free games:
For the PlayStation 4, we have Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty. This game is a reboot of the popular 1997 classic from developer Just Add Water. "Explore ancient ruins, dodge carnivorous beasts and avoid trigger-happy hunting parties as Abe, the original Oddworld hero in this lovingly re-crafted take on PlayStation® classic Abe's Oddysee," the game's official description states. "Once a happy floor waxer in Oddworld's biggest meat processing plant, Abe stumbles across his boss's secret plan to turn the factory's slave labor force into the latest in the RuptureFarms Tasty Treats line of novelty meat snacks. Abe now has to save his own skin from the grinders even if simply escaping the flesh farm is only the start of his Oddysee."
Valiant Hearts: The Great War is another offering for the PlayStation 4 this month. This single-player puzzle adventure game is set in 1914 during World War I and is based around an actual letter that was written during the Great War.
"This is the story of crossed destinies and broken love in a world torn apart," developer Ubisoft describes. "Of people who will try to survive the horror of the trenches, following their faithful canine companion. In Valiant Hearts, the lives of these characters are inextricably drawn together over the course of the game. Friendship, love, sacrifice and tragedy befall each one, as they help each other retain their humanity against the horrors of war."
For the PlayStation 3, we have the indie hit Papo & Yo, a puzzle platforming adventure game that follows the journey of a young boy named Quico and his beastly friend, Monster as they solve puzzles throughout each progressively difficult level. Use Monster's emotions as a clue to solve each puzzle and you'll be well on your way to finding a cure for his bouts of violent rage.
Also for the PS3 is Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, a classic detective tale that was originally released in September of last year. "You are Sherlock Holmes! Use your impressive talents as a detective to solve six thrilling and varied cases: murders, missing persons, spectacular thefts and numerous investigations that sometimes lead you into the realms of the fantastic," as described by the game's develop, Frogwares.
And finally, for the PS Vita, we have two indie favorites: OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood and CounterSpy. OlliOlli 2 is the sequel to the popular skating game that features 50 new levels, 250 new challenges, many more tricks, and even a revamp to the combo system.
CounterSpy is a side-scrolling stealth game set in an alternate history version of the Cold War era in the 1950s and 1960s. "CounterSpyTM focuses on the rogue third spy agency, C.O.U.N.T.E.R., that keeps the world's super powers at bay," Sony describes of the game. "Just as each side of the ongoing conflict gets close to unleashing a blow of earthshaking proportions, C.O.U.N.T.E.R. jumps into action, stealthily sabotaging their dastardly plans and deceptively maintaining world peace." This game is available as a cross-buy for the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
All of these games are available for free until April 7, so if you haven't yet, be sure to become a PlayStation Plus member in time to enjoy these great games.
