A new shocking video from ISIS released Tuesday shows a young boy who is used to execute a man the terror group claimed worked as an Israeli spy. In addition, the Israeli government has not yet announced on how they will respond to the Israeli Arab's execution.
According to Denis Slattery of New York Daily News, the boy and ISIS fighter, who were both dressed in camouflage, are shown in the video standing behind a man identified as 19-year-old Mohamed Said Ismail Musallam. Before Musallam was executed by several gunshots from the boy, the militant made a brief statement in French accusing him of working for Israeli intelligence; the video's authenticity could not be independently verified.
"They did not want to let him leave because if he comes back, he might be caught by the Israelis and tell them what he had seen," Said Musallam, the executed man's father, said. "So they wanted to get rid of him."
According to Slattery, Musallam's family, who lives in East Jerusalem, denied that Musallam worked for the Israeli intelligence group known as Mossad. However, Israel's internal security agency, Shin Bet, announced earlier this year that he left the country to join ISIS.
Musallam's father told New York Daily News that his son left for Syria four months ago without notifying his family. According to the father, he only heard from his son four months later in northern Syria, who wanted to come home.
"I saw him with a long beard and long hair and a Kalashnikov," his father said. "He told me, 'Look dad, I am fed up here, it is a country of war, and I want to come back."'
According to Roi Kais of Ynetnews, the video also showed Musallam in a room talking about how he was recruited and trained by the Israeli intelligence service, noting that his father and elder brother encouraged him to be a spy. During the execution video, ISIS issued a threatening message to the Jewish people.
"Allah granted us the grace to murder Jews on their lands in France," the unnamed ISIS militant said. "As to what happens here in the Islamic State, these are our young lions. They will kill those sent by the stupid Mossad to spy on the secrets of the Mujahedeen and the Muslims."
The brother of Musallam, Ahmad, told Ynet he had not seen the video yet, although he expressed remorse over his passing.
"My brother was a little boy who did not care for religion or politics," Ahmad said, using the insulting Arabic name to describe ISIS. "Daesh used him and tricked him."
According to Kais, Musallam claimed in the video that he was trained by Israeli intelligence and was compensated per mission.
"In general, the pay would be proportional to the assignment and its level of importance, and the minimum would be 5,000 shekels," Musallam said. "The bigger the assignment and the more valuable the information, the more they would pay me and the more bonuses I would receive."
Musallam later claimed that the Mossad wanted him to report on ISIS locations and where the terror group stored their weapons and rockets cache. According to Kais, he admitted on video that he was caught by ISIS as a spy for "acting in a manner that was not typical of a muhajir despite the training (he) had received from the Mossad."
According to New York Daily News, the Israeli Foreign Ministry declined to comment on Tuesday's video.
