Thanks to three newly leaked videos, eager customers now have much more information on the HTC One M9.
The videos, posted by popular tipster @Upleaks and reported by Engadget, confirm that the M9 will be getting an upgraded 20-megapixel camera in the rear with an UltraPixel front camera with enhanced features for low-light capabilities. Further rumors suggest that the rear camera will be fitted with true optical zoom.
The leaks also show off Dolby surround sound from the HTC product's signature BoomSound front-facing speakers and an upgraded version of HTC's Sense software that features support for customizable widgets, a location-based app, and a brand new photo editor.
The videos suggest that the One M9 will be available in three colors (Dark Gunmetal, Gold, and Silver), include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 5-inch 1080p display, 3 GB of DDR4 RAM, and 32/64 GB of storage.
There's no word yet on the price of the One M9, but it's not expected to go much higher than the current One M8's price of $499 US.
While the leaked videos have since been removed, we can look forward to HTC's March 1st event in Barcelona, Spain, to tell us more on what we can expect from the One M9. These leaks may have been set up to gather hype before the event, as many expect to see the M9 launch shortly after the announcement at the event, as in previous years.
But let's not forget about the popular HTC One M8 and M7 devices that are still in the hands of many satisfied customers. Both phones are currently enjoying various forms of the latest Android Lollipop update as we speak.
The One M8 has been updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Sprint and T-Mobile networks in the U.S. Originally, HTC said that they would update their One phones within 90 days of Lollipop's release, but that didn't hold true for all carriers. There's been no word from the others just yet, but they're expected to update soon.
The two-year-old HTC One M7, on the other hand, is enjoying the 800 MB Lollipop 5.0.2 update in Europe in an over-the-air update, but so far only Sprint has made the OTA update available on its network on this side of the pond. Back on February 4, HTC Product Management Vice President made the announcement via Twitter that Sprint users could expect Lollipop 5.0.1 on their HTC devices the next day.
Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and T-Mobile have not yet made the upgrade available, but they're expected to make announcements very soon.
