Jinger Duggar of the hit TLC show "19 Kids and Counting" recently shared her Christian testimony and her passion for witnessing in a short YouTube video posted on the Duggar family blog.
In the 8 minute video, the 21 year old is interviewed by her brother-in-law, Ben Seewald, who firsts asks her how she came to know the Lord.
"I grew up in a Christian home, of course," Jinger says, "But at a young age I realized that I was a sinner just like anyone else in the world-we all have a sinful nature. So, when I realized that, I realized my need for a savior. At about the age of six, I prayed [the prayer]...but my heart was not really changed until I was about 14 years old."
Jinger recalled, "I came into my parents, and I was like, 'I really need Jesus because I know that on my own self I won't be able to get into Heaven. I've done so many bad deeds against God, and I cannot save myself from my sin.'And so at that point, I was broken before God, and I said, 'God, the only thing I need right now is Your forgiveness, and that can only come from You, and give me the strength to do that. God saved me from my sins, and after that, gave me a burden for the lost and a desire to see others come to know Him."
When asked what caused her to be burdened for others, Jinger says, "You see people hurting all around you...sometimes, they have outward signs, but sometimes there's an inward bondage going on their lives."
"We know that we don't have it all together; we know that in ourselves, we can't do it alone-and no one can without Jesus Christ," she adds, quoting Matthew 9:36, which states, "When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he felt sorry for them. They were troubled and helpless like sheep without a shepherd."
Jinger also goes on to explain how she regularly passes out Gospel tracts (made by Living Waters Ministries) to strangers she meets on the street. "These are great tools...great ways to start off a conversation [about the Gospel]," she tells the camera while displaying the various tracts.
When she doesn't have Gospel tracts on hand, Jinger says she shares her faith in other ways, like starting a dialogue with a stranger. "Sometimes I'll ask people if they have a church background...because even if they do, [sometimes they don't realize] that going to church doesn't make you a Christian," she says, "Or, I'll take them through the Ten Commandments and through God's Law."
In concluding the interview, Ben encourages Christians to be bold for their faith, quoting Romans 1:16, which states, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile."
"So whether we have tracts with us or not, as Christians, we have a duty to preach the Gospel to all people-people need to hear this Good News," he tells the camera. "There are people dying all over the world right now without the hope of Christ. We need to share this good news with others, so they, too, can be saved from hell."
