LG has been blowing up the Android device scene with its hot new G3, but many fans are most excited for what the Korean company has in store with its upcoming G4 and G Flex 2.
LG G4
The G4 is expected to be announced in the second quarter of 2015 after an LG executive hinted at a reveal during this quarter's earnings report. The G3 was announced in May of last year during a dedicated event, so the possibility of the same being done for the G4 is high.
The LG G4 is expected to be running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but LG says that potential customers shouldn't be worried about the recent reprots from Samsung that the Snapdragon 810 has overheating issues.
According to a report at Android Authority, "Despite denying that overheating was an issue a week earlier, at an LG earnings conference in South Korea LG came clean and admitted that it had ran into some issues with its 'initial batch' of chips. However, LG and Qualcomm have since dealt with the issues and all is on schedule both for the release of the LG G Flex 2 and the future release of the LG G4."
The G4 is also expected to house a 16-megapixel camera, a 5.5-inch quad HD display running 2560x1440 pixels, and 3 or 4 GB of RAM.
Since the G4 will not be making its debut at the Mobile World Congress in March, a May reveal and launch is expected.
LG G Flex 2
The G Flex 2 is the follow-up to LG's popular G Flex from 2013 that showed off just how versatile a curved phone could be. But the G Flex 2 is not only improving on that concept, but also moving beyond the perceived gimmicky nature of the curved phablet.
The G Flex 2 features that Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor (minus any overheating issues), a 5.5-inch full-HD curved display running at 403 ppi, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage standard. It will also include a 3,000mAh battery, 13-megapixel rear camera, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone is said to be very similar to the G3, even moreso than the original G Flex.
Price for the G Flex 2 is expected to be similar to the original G Flex ($634 without contract), although a recently leaked image pegs the price at around $700 off-contract. Some speculations have gone as high as $900, although that may not happen. TechnoBuffalo speculates that the phone will be offered at $199 when used with a two-year service agreement.
As for U.S. carriers confirmed to carry the G Flex 2, AT&T and Sprint are currently the only two offering pre-orders at this point, but Verizon and T-Mobile are expected to jump on board with their own pre-order information in February.
