Just as we were so close to that January 27 release date for Grand Theft Auto V on the PC, developer Rockstar Games has gone and changed it again. This time, the open-world action game is set to release on March 24 for the PC.
"Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be," Rockstar said on its social site Rockstar Newswire.
"Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March."
Interestingly enough, a report at PC Gamer from only five days ago shows what the site calls the "somewhat unsual step of re-confirming" the launch date of the PC version to be January 27. "GTAV will be coming to PC on January 27th," Rockstar wrote on its site in response to rumors that revealed this most recent delay. "We have not announced any changes to the date at this time."
But Rockstar didn't just make this new delay announcement without buttering us up with some extra goodies. In addition to a handful of new screenshots from the PC version, the developer also revealed an editing tool called the Rockstar Editor that is said to give players a full suite of editing tools to help create and publish video clips from the game straight to YouTube or Rockstar's Social Club.
The PC version will also feature the multiplayer online version, GTA Online, straight out of the box, allowing players to join together in groups of up to 30 people. The hihgly anticipated Heists DLC will also be included, which seems to confirm that Rockstar was waiting to release that online content with the PC version. But the company confirms that the Heists DLC will be dropping for the console versions before the PC version: "Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch."
