We have reported about how Android 5.0 (also known as Lollipop) has not rolled out on certain Android devices, and when the release date will be. However, we also reported how the Android 5.0.1 patch was available on the Google Play editions of the HTC One M7, M8, and the Moto G rather recently. The 5.0.1 patch is meant to help with the bugs that came with Android 5.0, and there are reports that Android 5.0.1 is starting to slowly roll out on other Lollipop devices, which include the non-Google Play editions of the M7 and M8.

There was a promise made to owners of the HTC One M8, as well as owners of the M7, that users of these smartphones would receive the Lollipop update in 90 days of the original Source code being released. According to Android Central, this 90-day countdown begun at the beginning of November, and Android Pit has confirmed that its update to these phones on January 3rd.

So this leads to the obvious question of when Android 5.0.1 will come to the M8 and M7. It will probably be soon after the 3rd, if not on that date. Android Central reports screenshots being leaked from a "persistent HTC leaker" LlabTooFeR which show both Android 5.0.1 and HTC Sense 6.0 running on the HTC One M8. Sense 6 on Lollipop plans to adopt the changes in animations and user interface that comes with Android 5.0, like press buttons effects, access to lock screen notifications, and quick settings and the new multitasking view from Lollipop.

So it would appear that HTC One M7 and M8 users won't have to wait too long for their Lollipop 5.0.1 update, but what about users of the Motorola Moto G (2013 and 2014 models)? Well, according to Android Authority, that wait is over, because the Moto G, 1st and 2nd generation models, reportedly began receiving the newest update to version 5.0.1.

Some Moto G owners might have to wait longer than others, according to Android Geeks. Those that have received the update have reported that this Android 5.0.1 update for the Moto G 1st generation has a system version 220.21.25 and a build number LXB22.46-25. The Moto G 2nd generation has a system version 22.21.25 with a build number LXB22.46-25. This update is only 50 MB, which makes it a very light download, even with most of the lowest mobile plans.
