Lifetime TV network recently confirmed that Roma Downey and Mark Burnett will bring to life the stories of the women of the Bible this December.
According to Deadline, Downey will narrate the two-hour special titled The Women Of The Bible. The show will debut just before the world premiere of the network's biblical miniseries The Red Tent, which features the story of Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah.
The Women of The Bible will retell stories from the Bible and feature interviews with "high profile women in the faith community," the network said.
The special will highlight the stories of well-loved Biblical women such as Eve, Sara, Rahab, Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary, "with new insights from some of today's leaders and scholars in the faith community," the network said. Women interviewed include Christine Caine; Priscilla Shirer, Co-Founder of Going Beyond Ministries; Victoria Osteen, Co-Pastor of Lakewood Church; Eva Rodriguez of the Latino Evangelical Women's Association; Kay Warren, Co-Founder of Saddleback Church; and Joyce Meyer, Bible teacher and New York Times bestselling author, among others.
"There's no one better than Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to create this special, which is the perfect complement to Lifetime's miniseries event, The Red Tent," Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime, said.
The Women of the Bible is the latest of multiple Bible-based projects from the Hollywood couple, who previously produced the hit film "Son of God" as well as the Emmy-nominated mini-series "The Bible" which aired on the History Channel.
Downey is also set to host a TLC series which explores "the stories of people who claim that they've experienced modern-day miracles, incredible twists of fate, and phenomena that logic and science cannot explain." According to the network, the show "will leave even the most skeptical viewers considering if a divine force was at work."
"Mark and I feel passionate about providing projects that show people's lives in positive and uplifting ways," Downey said, USA Today reported. "This is a wonderful opportunity to work with TLC and host a series that will inspire and encourage viewers to remember that even in the worst circumstances, prayer can lead to divine intervention."
"The Women of the Bible" will be produced by Burnett and Downey's Lightworkers Media, the faith and family division of United Artists Media Group and is set to air this December.
