Android updates are typically seen on Google's Nexus devices first, and pre-orders for several of those devices have already begun. But if you're a Motorola Moto X or Moto G user, you might be curious to know when the upgraded operating system is coming your way.
The good news is that Android 5.0 Lollipop has been confirmed for the Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini.
As you might have guessed, specific launch dates have not been officially announced for these devices, but a landing page has been established on Motorola's website to give more information as it becomes available.
"The next generation of Android - Android 5 Lollipop - is in development," the support page reads. "Once it is officially released we will be working with our technology and carrier partners to bring it to you."

And if you're uncertain about which generation phone you have, the company has set up a handy reference page to help you out.
The first edition Moto X, released in August of 2013, was Motorola's first device released after Google bought the company in 2012. The second generation launched in September of 2014, introducing a metal case and improved hardware like a quad-core processor and 1080p HD screen. The lower-end Moto G and Moto E lines may sport lower specs and cheaper prices than the X, but they'll also be enjoying the OS update on their lighter profile hardware.
As for the Droid series, Motorola's Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX are the high-end contenders made exclusively for Verizon. The Droid Mini - also exclusive to Verizon customers - is the lower-end model available at a lower price for those just looking for the basics. All three phones replaced the Droid Razr HD line from 2012.
After the flagship Nexus 6 receives the Lollipop update on November 3, other Nexus smartphones and tablets should be following suit throughout the month of November. It's believed that Motorola's line will be next, just in time for the holidays, followed by Samsung later in the year, and HTC, LG, and Sony's popular Xperia line in 2015.
