This week's launch of Nokia's Lumia 830 has so far been met with rave reviews, but Nokia's 1525 smartphone was noticeably abscent from September's Lumia IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin. Could the technology giant be saving the best for last?
Nokia Lumia 1525
The 1525 is the beefier version of its predecessor, the 1520 phablet, rumored to sport the Snapdragon 805 processor and WIndows' new 8.1 OS. It features a 6-inch display, 3GB of RAM, a longer-lasting 3,400mAh battery, full microSD card support, and the possibility of an exciting solar-charging display panel.
The Lumia 1525 has been confirmed to release on all major U.S. carriers, including T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. No word on availability yet for Sprint.
Last year, the Lumia 1520 released in November, so we're hoping for a repeat for the 1525 in November of this year, but nothing has been confirmed.
Nokia Lumia 830
Despite so much remaining unconfirmed for the 1525, one phone that was highly touted during the Berlin event was Nokia's Lumia 830 phone, which has released this week and is said to be the most affordable modern device of its kind at $427 (€330).
Of course, with this affordability comes some sort of sacrifice, and with the 830, that seems to be with its hardware. The Lumia 830 is sleek and attractive, but the Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM might not be enough for many tech-hungry consumers. Regardless, International Business Times gives the 830 the esteemed title of "The Best Windows Phone Smartphone Yet" in a recent review.
The 830 isn't made to be the top-end device in your arsenal, though. As with Motorola's highly successful Moto X, this Nokia phone is made for ease-of-use and approachability for those just looking for a dependable phone that does the basics. Even when compared to the slightly more advanced Lumia 930 phone, the 830 is said to pack a bigger bang for the buck.
