For those fans looking forward to getting their tires dirty in Ubisoft's The Crew next month, you'll have to wait a few extra weeks as the developers fine-tune the highly anticipated racing game for launch.
According to an official blog post from Ubisoft's senior communications manager, Gary Steinman, the teams at Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections decided to delay launch until December 2nd to introduce one more closed beta test so more players can help mold the game a bit more before release. It will launch on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
"We received a lot of valuable information from the recent PC and console betas," said Creative Director Julian Gerighty. "We are now scrutinizing all of the player feedback so we can ensure that The Crew delivers the seamless open-world experience that meets everyone's high expectations."
The Crew is an action racing game that pits players against one another in various real-world cities and tracks to rule the underground racing scene. It boasts a gigantic open world, allowing players to drive through a massive re-creation of the United States. Thanks to this slight delay, the team has had a chance to add a few more features to the game, including a removable heads-up display, better collision mechanics, and improved visuals.
"One of the best qualities of The Crew is that it's so open to being played in different ways," Gerighty continues. "People will find pleasure doing different things. Giving people that choice is something we really believe in."
Three previous betas in July, August, and September introduced new players to the game and helped the dev team squash several technical bugs. This upcoming beta test will be for consoles only and is expected some time in November.
