The Green Bay Packers will face the Chicago Bears this week and add to one of football's most storied rivalries. The story continues at Soldier Field in Chicago at 1 PM EST this Sunday on FOX, or you can watch it online via live stream with the links below (free with subscription). The 1-2 Packers will be trying to find their best, and get back to the winning they have become accustomed too, and the 2-1 Bears will want to make it three wins in a row.
For the Bears, the Magic number is 20. If they can generate more than 20 points, then they will probably win the game, if things go like they have gone so far this year. Neither the San Francisco 49ers nor the New York Jets could put more than 20 points on them, and the Bears won both of those games. The Bills hit them with 23 in the first game of the year, and won by three points.
Quarterback Jay Cutler and crew is starting to find momentum, and the Bears defense is starting to find its way, so they may be able to hold the Packers under 20 this week and put a few more than that on the board themselves. They could use Matt Forte better out of the backfield better than they have, but for the most part the offense has performed.
The sporadic Pack, on the other hand, has only generated more than 20 in one contest this year, against the Jets. Again, they have did not do so well last week, going for only one touchdown against the Lions.
If the Bears can get to Aaron Rodgers, and disrupt the play, they may be able to keep the score low. A key matchup for this one will occur between the Bears defense led by linebacker Lance Briggs, and the Packers offensive line. Rodgers has been sacked 9 times already this year, and if they Bears can pressure him, they can slow down the offense severely.
Last year the Packers came into Soldier Field on the last game of the season to take the AFC North crown by beating the Bears and crushing their dreams. The Bears have to be playing with a chip on their shoulder, but this game could go far as solidifying either team and giving them confidence. This rivalry is a 'must win' on either team's calendar before the season starts every year.
