Alien: Isolation has officially gone gold, according to recent announcements by its publisher Sega. In gaming terms, this mean the upcoming survivor-horror game is no longer in the beta development stage.
Sega confirmed that the game will start reaching stores on Oct. 7, 2014. Alien: Isolation is coming to the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
Developed by Creative Assembly, Isolation takes place fifteen years after events in the 1979 cult-classic Alien. The plot revolves around Ellen Ripley's grown daughter, Amanda, who investigates her mother's disappearance after events in the fiAmazon, lm.
To commemorate Alien: Isolation's going gold, Sega will release a series of short trailers titled, How Will Your Survive. The first of these has already been released as of Tuesday, Sept. 9.
In that teaser, viewers see the world through the perspective of Amanda. While witnessing an alien eviscerating a fellow human, the character starts fleeing toward a chamber. Almost reaching her destination, Amanda is cruelly stabbed in the back through the midsection by the same alien. The stricken heroine falls to her knees, right before the creature delivers the killing blow with its hand.
Naturally, this does not necessarily mean Amanda will die in the game. Instead the trailer series demonstrates the various possible ways to experience the Isolation. Whether Amanda dies entirely depends on how well the player survives.
All versions of the game can be pre-ordered on Amazon and Gamestop. For those who prefer going through Best Buy, the PC version is not available.
Players who pre-order Alien: Isolation will get the Nostromo Edition that comes with DLC missions for free. Those two missions are titled The Crew Expendable and The Survivor, which relive events in the original Ridley Scott film. However, players will be able to influence the ending. The DLC content will eventually be sold separately at a later date.
