The Kansas City Chiefs will play against the Denver Broncos this Sunday, Sept. 14, during Week 2 of the 2014 NFL regular season. The Chiefs will visit the Broncos at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado. The game can be watched online through live stream below (free with subscription), and on CBS Television Network for free.
The Broncos opened up their season with a 31-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts.QB Peyton Manning made three pass touchdowns with 22 completions at 36 attempts and 269 pass yards. Wide receiver Julius Thomas caught the three touchdown passes and carried 104 yards. Running back Montee Ball had one touchdown with 67 rush yards in 23 carries.
Broncos are now ranked 8th (31 points) in points, 10th (259 yards) in pass yards, 19th (102 yards) in rush yards. In defense, they are ranked 4th in rush yards allowed (54 yards).
While Denver is almost for certain will make the playoffs - Manning leading with high pass completion rates - this year's defense roster added several new talents, including linebacker DeMarcus Ware, Aqib Talib, and T.J. Ward.
While Luck was the top passer with 370 yards, the Colts were unable to break the Broncos 24-0 lead although tying the game with two consecutive drives in the third quarter.Last year, the Broncos' defense had lots of holes and there were lots of injuries.
After sacking Colts QB Andrew Luck three times, the Broncos defense successfully stopped a high caliber offensive team from completely giving up their 24 point lead by the end of second quarter. The defensive prowess that was rarely seen in Broncos had made a statement to the league that the Broncos have made the necessary changes - securing a defense that can share the burden with Manning if the offense on the rare occasions that it falters - to ensure their highest chance of winning the Super Bowl this year.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, seemed to have started their season on the wrong foot - losing to the Tennessee Titans 26-10.
Quarterback Alex Smith made one pass touchdown in 19 completions out of 35 attempts and 202 pass yards, and rushed for 36 yards in six carries. Running back Jamaal Charles rushed for 19 yards in seven carries.
The Chiefs is ranked among the last five in the league in offense, and slightly lower than average in defense. The team's offense was left in shambles because right tackle Jeff Allen was placed on injured reserve Friday and will undergo surgery to repair a bicep tendon.
With what's possibly NFL's worst offensive line, can quarterback Smith survive the season?
The Broncos should be able to cruise by the Chiefs on Sunday without much hindrance.
